CAPITAL AREA LIGHT FLYERS – Event Schedule 

We solicit information about all ultralighting events within the CALF flying area.

Here are the events occurring within the next few weeks.

Driving Directions:

 Paul Nash's new home is located north of Emmitsburg, Maryland. His address is 831 Boyle Road, Fairfield, PA 17320. You can plug that address into Mapquest.com and make a map for yourself.

Or, follow these directions for driving:

  • On Maryland Route 15, drive north from Frederick to Emmitsburg, which is almost to the Pennsylvania border.
  • At Emmitsburg, turn (left) west on Maryland Route 140 and drive through Emmitsburg.
  • Approximately one half mile past Emmitsburg to the west, turn right on Tract Road.
  • On Tract Road, drive north for about one mile, crossing the Pennsylvania border. Turn right on Boyle Road.
  • On Boyle Road, drive about one quarter mile, cross a small creek, after which Paul Nash's house is the sixth house on the left.
  • Paul's place is located in a residential neighborhood, so landing may be tricky. There is a windsock. Paul is mowing a longer strip that has clear approaches. However, in case of doubt, scout the field from the ground before flying in.
  • Note that the field can lie within the Camp David Prohibited Area at times when the Prohibited Area is being extended, so check with Flight Service (1­800­WXBRIEF) before departing.
  • GPS coordinates of Paul's place are: N 39° 43.6' W 77° 19.6' 

Green Landings, Hedgesville West Virginia Go to the intersection of interstate routes I-70 and I-81. Turn south on I-81.  Go south on I81 for 9.7 miles.  Turn off at Exit 20, for Route 901 West, which is Spring Mills Road.  Turn right at end of ramp at the stop sign.  Continue On Route 901, go west 2.5 miles, which brings you to a left turn. You are still on Route 901.  Continue for another 1.1 miles.  At this point, the road will end at a tee that has a stop sign.  Turn right.  This is Little Georgetown Road, but there is no sign.  After turning at the tee, go 0.8 miles to McCoy's Ferry Road, and turn left.  This is the first paved road on the left.  After turning left, go a short way and look to the left. Turn left on Taxi Way Drive.

To Reese / Eyler Field. 
Take I-70 West from Baltimore or East from Frederick and exit at MD Rt. 75 (exit 62).  Go north toward Libertytown about 5.5 miles. Turn left on Artie Kemp road.  Go about 1/3 mile and, at the top of the hill, bear left onto Alton Rd.  Turn right at the first barn on the right.  If you should have your GPS with you it should read: 39.35.20 X 77.17.64

To Shreveport - From Washington - take I-270 North to Frederick.  Take Rt 15 north through Thurmont, Emmitsburg and Gettysburg, to Dillsburg. Turn right on Rt 74/194.  At the split follow Rt194.  Make a left on Ridge road.  Go 2.1 miles and make a left at the stop sign.  Shreveport is on the left.

From Baltimore - Take Rt. 70 to Rt. 32 North.  Turn left on Rt26.  Turn right on Rt. 97 to Westminster.  Turn left on Rt 140 go through Westminster and turn right on Rt. 97.  Continue on Rt. 97 about 4 miles to Union Mills cross over the bridge and make a right on Old Hanover Road.  At the stop at stop sign, go straight.  At the next stop sign turn left.  At next stop sign, about a mile, turn right on RT 194 and continue through Hanover to Abbotstown.  At the traffic circle in Abbotstown go straight through (Rt 30) and continue on Rt 194 through East Berlin.  Turn right on Ridge road.  Go 2.1 miles and make a left at the stop sign.  Shreveport is on the left.

To the Harrison's Farm.  Take I-70 West from Baltimore or East from Frederick and exit at MD Rt. 75 (exit 62). Go north toward Libertytown about 6 miles.  Turn right on Rt. 26.  Turn left on Rt. 31.  Turn left on Fountain School Rd.  Go approximately 1/4 mile and turn left on Flying "H" rd.

 Mike and Jeanne Kilpatrick's.  Take Rt. 26 West from Baltimore or East from Frederick to Taylorsville.  Turn North on Franklinville Rd.  Franklinville will become Sam's Creek Rd.  After Buffalo Rd. turn left into second driveway.
